Statement on Pride Month vandalism

June 29, 2022

SPC Family,

This month, St. Philip’s College was victim to hate crimes in the form of the vandalization of pride flags and signage that has been placed across the Martin Luther King Campus quad as we observe and celebrate Pride Month. These acts hold no place on our campus.

Our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee is constantly working to improve the ways we show up to support each other and work to create a more inclusive environment. We are committed to continuing our work to create a welcoming and safe campus dedicated to respect, diversity, inclusivity, and belonging.

As Pride Month draws to a close, we recognize that uplifting and honoring the LGBTQIA+ community should not end when June does. Instead, we must continuously amplify the voices, experiences, and successes of our entire college community.

Sincerely,
